Mavericks end 4-game skid by dumping Pistons

Spencer Dinwiddie scored a season-high 31 points and P.J. Washington added 27 as the Dallas Mavericks snapped a four-game losing streak with a 123-117 win over the visiting Detroit Pistons on Friday.Dallas (34-37) withstood a late rally when Brandon Williams converted a three-point play with 16.9 seconds left. It came after Cade Cunningham’s layup cut the Pistons’ deficit to 118-115.Cunningham scored again with 10.8 seconds remaining, but Klay Thompson made two foul shots, and Dallas picked up just its second win in its last 11 games.Thompson finished with 20 points and Naji Marshall recorded his sixth double-double this season with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the injury-plagued Mavericks, who had only nine available players. Kai Jones had 10 points and seven rebounds.Cunningham led Detroit (39-32) with 35 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Malik Beasley scored 16 points, Jalen Duren had 14 points and nine rebounds, Ronald Holland III scored 12 points and Dennis Schroder 11.Dallas took the lead early within the first two minutes of the game and never trailed again. The Mavericks shot 52.5 percent from the field for the game and 35.3 percent (12 of 34) from 3-point range.Dallas led 35-27 at the end of the first quarter after shooting 52.2 percent from the field.
