Hurricanes continue hot streak by downing Red Wings

Frederik Andersen made 24 saves and the Carolina Hurricanes boosted their winning streak to six games by beating the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 on Friday night in Raleigh, N.C.Taylor Hall, Jack Roslovic and Jalen Chatfield scored for the Hurricanes before Eric Robinson added an empty-net goal. Jesperi Kotkaniemi had two assists.Andersen has recorded three consecutive victories following a personal four-game losing streak. He was tested with 14 shots in the third period, when Detroit closed within a goal.Alex DeBrincat and Michael Rasmussen scored for the Red Wings, who’ve lost seven of their last eight games. Petr Mrazek, a former Carolina goalie, stopped 28 shots.Mrazek was in his second game this week with the Red Wings since he rejoined the team in a trade from the Chicago Blackhawks last week.Roslovic, who has his third three-game points streak of the season, also had an assist for his first two-point game since late December.The Hurricanes completed a 4-0 homestand before playing on the road for more than a week coming up. That winning string includes three games since the trade deadline when the roster underwent changes.The Red Wings had the only first-period goal, with DeBrincat finding the net for the eighth time in the last 12 games. DeBrincat has 14 goals in 24 career games against the Hurricanes.
